A new campaign has been launched after a Sydney school teacher, Danielle Finlay-Jones, was allegedly murdered by a man that she met on Tinder.

The ‘Swipe Them Out’ campaign is fighting to ban criminals from dating apps to prevent these offenders from finding victims online and committing sexual crimes.

Hayley Foster, the Full Stop Australia Chief Executive told 6PR Mornings host Gary Adshead, that some very basic protections need to be added to these apps.

“We need to start focusing our attention on what’s happening online – the fact that you can access a dating app without even verifying your identity – we need to put some safety checks around people’s criminal history,” Ms Foster said.

“At the end of the day we have to recognise it is becoming the norm, this is how people are meeting so we need to have some degree of responsibility for that to make it a safe space for people.”
