Proposed stop and search laws allow police to declare ‘meth transit routes’

New legislation being introduced into State Parliament today, will allow WA Police to stop and search any vehicle for illegal drugs.

Police Minister Liza Harvey has told Gary Adshead the new laws will allow police to declare ‘meth transit routes’ and conduct random searches for up to two weeks.

Police Commissioner Karl O’Callaghan has told Gary Adshead that officers will not be forced to randomly stop vehicles on country, the searches will be part of a much larger operation.
