The Demons will feature in this year’s AFL final series after stunning the Eagles by 17 points at Optus Stadium.

The loss means the Eagles must defeat Brisbane next weekend to secure a top two finish and lock in home finals.

There’s also an injury cloud under Jack Darling, who missed the majority of the match after showing symptoms of concussion following a heavy tackle in the first term.

Former Bomber Jake Melksham caused headaches all day for the Eagles – booting 4 goals. James Harmes and Nathan Jones were terrific in the middle gathering 27 and 28 touches respectively.

First year Eagle Willie Rioli was electric up front kicking 3 goals, while Dom Sheed urged his side on all day with 31 possessions.

A terrific game of footy was soured after the final siren with Mark Lecras and Neville Jetta exchanging words in a tense moment for both teams.
