Locals and wildlife workers at are continuing their emotional struggle to save the remaining whales stranded on Cheynes Beach.

Former AFL player and Albany resident Brett Peake told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast rescue efforts are continuing despite the situation worsening.

“We pushed them out and you think you’ve done the right thing; next minute, they come humming back and beach themselves again,” Mr Peake said.

“That’s the hard part.”

Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions South Coast Regional Manager Peter Hartley told Millsy and Karl a number of agencies and volunteers were heavily invested in rescuing the remaining whales.

“We really appreciate the offers of support and how many people want to help, but at this stage we have enough volunteers. The best way people can help now is to leave it to the experts,” Mr Hartley said.
