More coronavirus restrictions will be lifted in WA in eight days’ time.

From Saturday June 6 the following will come into effect:

• Non-work gatherings of 100 people will be allowed with up to 300 in some venues with multiple separate areas.
• Alcohol can be served without a meal – but only with seated service
• Beauticians, personal care, massage, saunas and wellness centres reopen
• Gyms and indoor sports centres to reopen with regular cleaning and must be staffed
• Food courts can reopen with a seated service
• Full contact sport and training to resume
• Use of playgrounds, skate parks and outdoor gym equipment allowed
• Parents can enter school grounds for pick up and drop off
• Cinemas, galleries, theatres, concert venues, amusement centres reopen
• TAB and other gaming venues (other than the Casino which is being considered separately) can reopen
• Perth Zoo reopen
• Rottnest will reopen to tourists
• 4 square metre rule changed to 2 square metres per person

“Our strong border controls have been our best weapon in this fight, said Mr McGowan.

“Our hard border with the east continues to serve us well and protect Western Australia [from] infection. It is these weapons that have allowed us to ease restrictions further than any other state in the past and is this approach that will continue with phase 3.”
