Mandurah has been selected as a trial location for drug-testing welfare recipients for a number of reasons.

Social Service Minister Anne Ruston told Gareth Parker, Mandurah was picked based on the number of people presenting to local hospitals with drug-related issues, as well as the wastewater testing results.
