Some graduate teachers are still struggling with basic literacy and grammar, prompting calls for universities to hold entrance exams before they enter higher education.

Graduate teachers are resorting to private tutors to try to pass a special test needed to become a teacher.

Oliver Peterson spoke with Australian Tutoring Association chief executive Mohan Dhall.
