Harvey Deegan

Racing trailblazer Marjorie Charleson has died at the age of 88.  Marjorie made an enormous contribution to WA Racing where she spent 16 years as the public relations officer.

Marjorie was responsible for luring some of the country’s best horses to Ascot including champion thoroughbred Kingston Town for the 1982 Western Mail Classic, which is now known as the Kingston Town Classic.

Perth Racing, in honour of her contribution to racing named the Marjorie Charleson Classic after her.
