Tens of thousands could be hospitalised with coronavirus in WA

The President of the WA Branch of the Australian Medical Association is warning tens of thousands of people could potentially need hospital treatment for coronavirus – in this state alone.
Dr Andrew Miller has told Gareth Parker on Mornings Western Australia needs to start preparing now for a potential ‘tsunami’ of coronavirus cases.

He says with the Federal Government’s declaration of a pandemic our hospital system needs to prepare for the potential of tens of thousands of patients.

The says there’s a need to prepare ‘fever clinics’ where people can be tested for the virus without needing to go to their usual doctor or hospital emergency departments.
