Tens of millions could have been stolen

The Department of Communities Director General as vowed to rebuild trust and confidence with the public after corruption charges were laid against a senior member of her team.

Paul Whyte has appeared in the Perth Magistrates Court this morningĀ  accused of stealing two and a half million dollars through false invoices over the past two years.

The court heard the prosecution has evidence to suggest tens of millions of dollars was stolen over more than a decade.

Oliver Peterson spoke with Premier Mark McGowan and Channel 9 reporter Gary Adshead.
