Templeman: “It paints a poor picture of leadership”

The state government has tabled the 2,000 page report of the inquiry into the City of Perth, saying its 2018 decision to suspend the council has been vindicated.

As foreshadowed by inquiry chief Tony Power in his closing remarks, the report makes findings of poor leadership under Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi, factionalism, poor governance, and interference in the city’s administration.

Local government minister David Templeman has told parliament a report of this nature would normally end with a recommendation about the dismissal of a council or councillor.

Mr Templeman spoke with Oliver Peterson after tabling the report.
