Taxi plate buyback scheme claims its first scalp

Rockingham’s Rainbow Taxis has just shut up shop after 25 years. It was an important service to the area with a demographic of older people who rely on the cabs.

Plate owner Malcolm Evans spoke to Oliver Peterson about why new rules and the plate buy back scheme means he is getting out of the taxi business.

“The ponzi-inspired legislation the Government has brought in is horrendous.

“I’ve never seen anything like in 25 years.”
