Subi Memories: State of Origin with Leon Larkin

Leon Larkin brought State of Origin to Subiaco Oval in 1977 and became a Tuesday night feature at Perth’s home of footy.

Larkin spoke with 6PR Breakfast about why he created the competition and shared his memories of Subi ahead of the final WAFL Grand Final at the venue this Sunday.

“It came about because, I think the day that Polly Farmer played for Victoria against West Australia at Subi Oval, that was really the catalyst that said “this has to stop; we can’t have our best players playing for the opposition link that.””
