“Safety of the victim is paramount”: Nick Goiran

School kids who are victims of sexual assault at the hands of a fellow student may no longer have to face their accused perpetrators each day at school.

Shadow Child Protection Minister Nick Goiran has today moved a motion in the Upper House that calls for the accused to be moved to another school or get their education via distance education or homeschooling.

Mr Goiran told Jo McManus it’s traumatic for the victim to have to go to school with the perpetrator.

“They might not be in the same classroom, but imagine knowing the perpetrator is on the same campus.

“It’s intolerable. It shouldn’t happen.”
