Relief for renters and landlords

Renters who are in need of assistance after losing their jobs due to COVID-19 will be able to apply for $2000 grants.

The grants are to be paid directly to landlords in lieu of rent as apart of the State Government’s new $130 million relief package.

To qualify a person must have lost their job, applied for Centrelink, have less than $10,000 in the bank and still paying at least 25 per cent of their income on rent.

Relief for commercial landlords will also be provided for those who provide rent relief for a minimum of three months.

Treasurer Ben Wyatt told Oliver Peterson it’s important to do everything the State Government can to help those in need.
