Relentless: Sam Mitchell

Four Premierships, captaincy, a Brownlow (won in strange circumstances), there’s not much former Hawthorn and West Coast player Sam Mitchell hasn’t achieved, so he’s shared his experiences in a new book, Relentless.

Mitchell describes his relationship with Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson and says it’s had its ups and downs and how he felt receiving a joint Brownlow medal when Jobe Watson handed his back in the midst of the Essendon doping scandal.

“I’m not disappointed, I don’t know any different, it was still a special moment for me. I’ve had a unique Brownlow Medal experience along with Trent Cotchin. We’re the only two that could say that our children… were sitting in front of me and going to a function and knowing you’re going to win,” Mitchell told Steve and Baz on 6PR Breakfast.
