Push for Australia Day date change
The National Assembly of Local Government passed a resolution to encourage Australian councils to lobby the federal government to move Australia Day.
Australia Day is celebrated on January 26. The City of Fremantle moved to cancel celebrations and hold fireworks on January 28 for a more inclusive and culturally sensitive holiday but was met with a strong backlash.
Oliver Peterson spoke to the City of Hobart Lord Mayor Sue Hickey who motioned the vote.
