Plans to revitalise Wellington Square

Julie-anne Sprague

The City of Perth is working with the community and stakeholders to revitalise Wellington Square.

The long-term plan aims to upgrade facilities at the run-down park, tackle safety concerns and cater for East Perth’s fast-growing residential population, which is expected to increase by about 60 per cent over 20 years.

Plans for Wellington Square that include basketball courts, a playground, water feature and space for public events such as markets are gaining momentum after nearly two years of community consultation.

Aboriginal Community Leader and Deputy Chairperson Prisoners Review Board Craig Somerville spoke about the project with Simon on Afternoons.
