West Coast Eagles legend Peter Sumich has revealed that John Worsfold came incredibly close to becoming Head Coach at Fremantle.

The former Fremantle Dockers Assistant Coach told Peter Vlahos on Talking Sport that Worsfold was in talks with both Fremantle and West Coast in 2002 but when Worsfold approached Fremantle’s hierarchy to offer his services as coach they were turned down.
