Peel appearance good for Matera

Last Friday, Brandon Matera got a call from Fremantle to say he wouldn’t be in the playing team when they travel to the MCG to face the Pies.

Matera played with WAFL club Peel on Saturday and said it was a bit of a wake up call.

“I just had to go back and work on my tackle pressure and pressure around the ball and releasing out of the forward line with speed. I thought I went back there and did that on the weekend so we’ll just have to wait and see,” Matera told 6PR Breakfast.

“I really enjoyed going back there, it was a bit of a freshen up as well and it probably makes you a bit more hungry to get you back in the AFL team.”

He also brought his new puppy, Pablo, into the 6PR studio.
