Not everyone happy about cheap drinks

Millsy & Karl

Discount grocery store chain Aldi are selling cheap alcohol from today, but not everyone is happy about the move for easy access cheap liquor.

Julie Stafford is the Executive Officer of the McCusker Center for Action on Alcohol in Youth, a group who complained about Aldi selling cheap drinks in the Joondalup area.

Ms Stafford told 6PR Breakfast: “We know from a lot of evidence from around the world that lower alcohol prices are associated with more drinking and more harms from alcohol and that cheap alcohol is particularly a concern with young people.”

But plenty of our listeners called to voice their opinion saying cheap liquor is available at plenty of places and Aldi should be allowed to sell alcohol in their stores.
