Most strokes are preventable

There will be 56,000 stroke in Australia this year, around one stroke every nine minutes, and they can hit anyone at any age, but this National Stroke Week we’re being reminded some strokes can be preventable.

“The good news is 80% of strokes can be prevented, so we need to take control now and every step counts towards a healthy life,” Sharon McGowan, the CEO of the Stroke Foundation, told 6PR Breakfast.

The Stroke Foundation gave Steve and Baz some tips to share to the listeners:
Stay active, eat well, drink alcohol in moderation, quit smoking and make time to see your doctor for a health check.
