Josh Kennedy out of Derby

Josh Kennedy has confirmed he will not play in the 48th Western Derby on Sunday after a kick to his lower right leg during a training session kept him out of the game against North Melbourne.

“We just got another knock at training which is not on the spot but it was just around that area and she’s pulled up a bit sore and we kind of thought it might settle down for Thursday into Saturday but it didn’t so it’s still a bit sore. We’ll probably miss this week as well,” Kennedy told 6PR Breakfast.

Millsy asked who kneed him at training: “It was one of the back men, young Thomas Cole,” Kennedy replied.

Cole has just been named this week’s Rising Star Nomination so Kennedy joked Cole could be fined quite a large amount for the injury.
