This morning, Jane spoke with “John” who wanted to expose elder abuse in two Perth nursing homes.

From Aged Care Minister Ken Wyatt:

Anyone who has concerns should raise their concerns immediately with the Aged Care home in the first instance.

If they are unsatisfied, or uncomfortable raising the concern, they can and should raise concerns completely anonymously with the Aged Care Complaints Commissioner, by calling 1800 550 552.

It is imperative that everyone associated with aged care – including nurses and carers – has the confidence to report concerning, unacceptable or illegal practises immediately to the appropriate authority, the Aged Care Complaints Commissioner.

There will be absolutely no compromise on the provision of safe, quality care for older Australians.
