Government Western Rock Lobster policy causes controversy

The State Government’s proposed changes to the Western Rock Lobster Industry are proving controversial, with allegations of socialist-style interference directed at Fisheries Minister Dave Kelly, who on December 8th 2018 announced the State would increase the amount of crayfish available with the caveat that 17.3% is seized by the State. The move has infuriated crayfishermen.

Jane spoke to Western Rock Lobster (Council) CEO Matt Taylor, Fisheries Minister Dave Kelly, Lobster Shack owner Michael Thompson, and industry veteran Brad Arnup.
