Fenians Fremantle & Freedom Festival

Harvey Deegan

The inaugural ‘Fenians Fremantle & Freedom Festival’, the first Irish Cultural Festival in Australia of its kind, takes place in Fremantle from 5 to 14 January.

The ten-day cultural festival is a celebration of Irish culture and influence in Australia, inspired by 150th anniversary of the arrival of the last convict ship to Australia, the Hougoumont, to be celebrated on 10 January 2018.

Fremantle Historian Mike Lefroy joined Harvey Deegan on Remember When to discuss the festival and Remembering the Hougoumont.

Remembering the Hougoumont – 150th Anniversary of the arrival of the last convict ship to Australia

Tickets for all events can be purchased at Eventbrite.com.au  – search for Fenians Festival.
