Descendent of Kelly victim calls for an end to the Ned Kelly myth

Simon Beaumont

On the 140th Anniversary of Stringybark Creek Police Massacre, the descendent of a Kelly victim calls for an end to the Ned Kelly myth.

Leo Kennedy, the great grandson of Sergeant Michael Kennedy, one of the three policemen ambushed and slain at Stringybark Creek, wants the myth surrounding Ned Kelly and his gang of outlaws dispelled once and for all.

Leo Kennedy is the author of a new book called Black Snake –the real story of Ned Kelly.

Mr Kennedy joined Gareth Parker and told him for the families of the victims it’s a day of sorrow and frustration at the misplaced national pride in Ned Kelly.
