Carnarvon’s iconic OCT dish under threat of demolition

Steve Mills and Basil Zempilas

Carnarvon’s iconic OCT Dish that played a part in the first Moon landing may be set for demolition because of an expected remediation bill of $1.7 milllion over 5 years which the Shire of Carnarvon says could be beyond their financial capacity.

The dish sits outside the Carnarvon Space and Technology Museum which attracts thousands of visitors each year.

Phil Youd, Chairman of the Museum told 6PR Breakfast “a little town like Carnarvon needs every little bit of positivity it can get.”
