Call to clean up Karrakatta Cemetery

A visit to Karrakatta Cemetery left Kaylene Wood and her husband mortified.

Ms Wood told Chris she was confronted by an area in “total disarray” upon arriving at the Cemetery ahead of her mother-in-law’s funeral next week.

“In between all the plots is just sand…there’s leaves everywhere… there’s dead weeds everywhere,” Ms Wood said.

“There’s rubbish, paper, discarded potplant bases, broken monuments and people’s personal rubbish like water bottles just thrown on the ground,” she said.

“There’s glass in the area…my husband…got a cut to his foot.”
