Due to unprecedented hospital pressure, health bosses have instructed the cancellation of category two and three surgeries.

Kyle Hoath, WA President of the AMA, informed 6PR Breakfast hosts Millsy and Karl that a severe lack of beds is the core issue, with no clear timeline for when the freeze will be lifted.

He stated, “We’ve all seen this coming, and certainly the last week or so has shown just how dire the situation can get when we hit a tough winter and we don’t have a hospital system that’s ready to deal with this amount of unwell people.”
