Perth schools face teacher shortages due to high exodus in 2024

More than 1200 West Australian public school teachers resigned in 2024.

Kya Graves, President of the Principals Federation of WA, explains to Perth Today host Simon Beaumont that supply issues are seeing schools turn to distance education, making the School of Isolated and Distance Education now the biggest school in WA.
“We have supply issues in terms of teachers not just from resignations and burnout but teachers simply not coming through,” she said.
