Following the lead of local governments in Victoria, Perth is also considering implementing a parking tax on large vehicles like four-wheel drives to encourage the use of smaller, more economical cars.

Greens MLC Brad Pettitt told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live, “It’s time for some changes.”

“They are getting more and more ridiculous. They’re bad for our environment, they’re bad for safety, and they’re bad for our cities, because frankly they can’t fit in a normal parking spot.”

“These are cars that make your average Prado and Land Cruiser look small, we don’t need cars that are that big,” Mr Pettitt continued.
