Opposition Leader Basil Zempilas has suggested Premier Roger Cook betrayed the WA public over the actual cost to fund the Perth Bears NRL team.

Zempilas told Perth Today host Simon Beaumont that, despite supporting the idea of a team, he doubts the government’s honesty regarding the expense to the WA taxpayer.

“I know most people think he gave a cast iron guarantee and since then at worst it’s been revealed that he lied to the public of Western Australia, at best, he misled them,” he said.
