With the Secret Harbour by-election looming, Opposition Leader Basil Zempilas told 6PR Mornings host Simon Beaumont that he questioned the prime minister’s decision to avoid the electorate during his recent trip to Perth.

Zempilas highlighted a strong sense of negativity towards Anthony Albanese, suggesting it had impacted support for the state government.

It comes down to the guarantees that he gave over negative gearing and capital gains tax, and then reversed his position. I think that’s fed into some of the distrust about his latest position on no change for the GST for Western Australia”, Zempilas said.
