Nic Nat’s replacement?

Article image for Nic Nat’s replacement?

Terry Wallace says a little-known son-of-a-gun could help the West Coast Eagles solve their ruck woes for season 2017.

The Eagles will be without star ruckman Nic Naitanui for all of 2017 after he did his ACL in round 22 against Hawthorn.

Second ruckman Scott Lycett finished the season with a battered PCL that included cartilage and ligament damage.

Tom Goodwin – the son of Richmond and Melbourne player Andy Goodwin – plays for Coburg in the VFL and Wallace says the Eagles are interested in him.

‘There’s another one to just keep a little bit of an eye on or Eagles supporters might want to do a little bit of googling,’ Wallace said.

‘That’s a kid playing in the VFL, a kid by the name of Tommy Goodwin.

‘This kid is as tough as nails, his dad was that way. He’d eat raw leather, that’s the way he goes about his football.

‘I know West Coast have had a conversation with him. I think it’s more likely to be a rookie opportunity given to a young man like that.’
