New Act will leave Subi short: Mayor

Overnight, the controversial City of Perth Bill passed through the Lesgilative Council.

Kings Park, Queen Elizabeth Medical Centre, UWA and the Perth Children’s Hospital will be included in the boundaries of the City of Perth from July 1 this year.

Local Government Minister Tony Simpson said bringing some of Perth’s key landmarks into the one council would create a bigger, stronger capital city.

But Mayor of Subiaco, Heather Henderson, who will lose more than 3,000 ratepayers, doesn’t believe there was any thought given to the financial loss for the City of Subiaco.

Gary Adshead spoke to Mr Simpson and Ms Henderson on the 6PR Morning Show.
