A class action lawsuit has been opened against Optus over last year’s data breach.

With more than 100,000 Optus customers signing on the the action, Slater & Gordon are alleging the telco was repsonsible for “breaching privacy, telecommunication and consumer laws”.

Slater & Gordon’s Class Actions Practice Group Leader Ben Hardwick told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings they’d received clear motivation for action form the customers.

“We’ve had many, many Australians contact us with stories of being victims of stalking or domestic violence and having real concerns about their information being out there,” Mr Hardwick said.
