Western Australians can support local dairy farmers in light of Coles and Woolworths putting limits on essential products in WA.

South West dairy farmer Ian Noakes told Liam Bartlett on 6PR Mornings there was plenty of Farmers Own milk available at both supermarkets.

He said the Margaret River product was introduced after the supermarkets began producing their own house brand milk for $1, in an effort to get shoppers to go local.

“We have our loyal supporters, which we are very grateful for,” he said.

“If you look at what we do on our farm, it’s helped us be sustainable and put in policies – animal welfare, environmental work, things we are doing on the farm – to make ourselves better corporate citizens.”

Coles and Woolworths earlier on Thursday announced buying limits on essential products freighted from interstate, while flooding on the Trans National rail line from South Australia to WA is cleared.
