The ability to mentor some of the Perth Scorchers young stars is what attracted Mitch Johnson to returning to cricket in the Big Bash League. 

Johnson who last played international cricket against New Zealand last November and made three appearances in the Indian Premier League in April. 

The now 34-year-old said Justin Langer had been incredibly positive about getting the left-armer around the group. 

‘Losing Hoggy helps me be in there and help these younger guys through,’ Johnson said. 

‘Just to be a part of the group and mentor some of these young guys and help them through.’
