The full house sign went up at Manuka Oval on a hot Canberra afternoon. Australia, batting for the first time in the series piled on an opening partnership of 187.

Aaron Finch (107) easily dominated India’s bowling attack in the steamy conditions.  David Warner (93), returning to the team following the birth of this second child, fast found his groove hitting 8 fours and a six to reach his 50.  

Mitchell Marsh, promoted to no.3 seemingly to provide him with time in the middle, slowed Australia’s momentum as evidenced by his 33 off 42 balls, the only top order batsmen to not score at a run a ball or better.  

When Steve Smith (51 off 29) and Glenn Maxwell (41 off 20) came to the crease they quickly picked up the pace propelling the home side to 8/348.

India, under the lights at Manuka, continued the run-fest with Rohit Sharma (41), Shikhar Dhawan (126), Virat Kohli (106)  turning on a one-day masterclass.  Dhawan and Kohli setting a new record 2nd wicket partnership of 212, in less than 30 overs, for India vs Australia anywhere.

India appeared to be in complete control against a lacklustre attack at 1/277 until Dhawan’s dismissal lead to an remarkable collapse with Dhoni and Kohli falling within 10 balls. After that it was a procession.  

Amazingly, it could have been over even sooner, as Australia dropped three catches as the wickets tumbled.  Australia went on to win by 25 runs claiming the last nine wickets for 46 runs in 12 overs.  Kane Richardson was named Man of the Match for his figures of 5 for 68.
