‘I haven’t seen too many bikies call in the removalists just yet’: QC says new laws will have little effect

A prominent lawyer says new anti-bikie laws will do little to to curb activities from outlaw motorcycle gangs.
It comes as the state government introduced new legislation which prohibits bikies from displaying club tattoos or insignia.
Anti-consorting provisions will also be introduced with Police to have powers of dispersal.
They will be the toughest anti-bikie laws in the country.
However, Tom Percy QC told Gareth Parker they won’t have the desired effect.
“I haven’t seen too many bikies call in the removalists just yet,” he said.
“They’ve tried a lot of things in the past, and none of those seemed to have worked.
“When you have a look the attitude of people who make a living out of staying outside the law, and they do it professionally.
“Things like you can’t wear your colours on your jacket in a public place are not exactly going to have them shaking in their boots.”
