Healthcare costs in WA eclipse national standard

West Australians are paying on average almost $41 out of pocket to see a doctor, eclipsing the national standard and making health care inaccessible for many.
The Medicare rebate has stayed stagnant for almost a decade.
The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners WA Chair Dr Ramya Raman told Julie-anne Sprague on 6PR Afternoons the Medicare rebate needs to be increased to keep up with inflation.
“New figures are showing there is insufficient Medicare rebates that have made healthcare in Australia increasingly inaccessible,” said Dr Raman.
