Greens to tackle childhood obesity with sugar tax
The Obesity Policy Coalition has welcomed a promise from the Greens, to introduce a 20% tax on sugary drinks in a bid to tackle childhood obesity rates.
The idea has been rejected by the Coalition despite the potential to save Australia’s health system up to $609m over the next twenty years.
OPC Executive Manager Jane Martin has told Gary Adshead, this is one of the more attractive policies put forward.
