The state government has launched an urgent legal bid in the Supreme Court to prevent a prisoner, who transitioned to a woman while incarcerated, from being transferred to a female jail after the State Administrative Tribunal previously ruled in favour of the move.

“You can imagine what sort of problems it’s going to create for the government if that’s allowed, where’s it end? All sorts of people will start transitioning inside male prisons so they can get to female prisons,” he said
