Despite a drawn-out and emotional farewell to the longest-running show in Australian television history, Neighbours will be back on screens in September.

The show will be on Monday to Thursdays at 4.30pm, a slot that is reportedly aimed at boosting Network Ten’s primetime schedule.

Entertainment reporter Peter Ford told Karl and Gena onĀ 6PR Breakfast it’s been just over a year since everyone assumed the show was done.

“The last episode had gone to air, they’d done it really well; everyone was crying and they were all selling their houses, but in the best traditions of soap operas no-one ever really dies,” Mr Ford said.
