The Gold Coast Suns have run out 24-point winners over the Fremantle Dockers at Metricon Stadium on Satuday despite a close contest for most of the game the Suns dominated the final few minutes for the 16.9 (105) to 12.9 (81) victory.

Michael Walters stormed into the game with a goal within moments of bouncedown but the Suns answered back with two Sam Day goals and then the scoreline fight was on.

Fremantle got within a point, before the Suns closed off the first quarter with a 14-point lead.
Shane Yarran got his first AFL goal in the second quarter and Lachie Neale worked well around the ground while Ed Langdon had a controversial kick on goal that was reviewed and ruled as a behind. Walters continued his form in front of goal for his third major after the half time siren to give his Dockers a nine-point lead at half time.

The third quarter started as a see-sawing competition until the Suns’ kicked a couple of consecutive goals to get in front by 13 points.

It took half of the final term for the scoreboard to change, but the Suns took hold of the game for the win.
Lachie Neale clocked up an impressive 43 disposals while Michael Walters kicked four goals.
