Fremantle CEO Simon Garlick was open and honest when reflecting on the Dockers’ 2023 season before their round 21 clash against Brisbane.

Speaking to the 6PR Football call team during pre-game coverage on Sunday, Garlick was frank in his assessment when addressing a disappointing season.

“We’ve been quite open in saying how disappointed we are with the lack of progress we’ve made this year from an overt sense.”

But Garlick noted some important steps in growth as the Dockers push towards their premiership window over the next few years.

“We think there’s going to be a lot to take out of this year.”

“We’re having to deal with expectations, both internal and external. And we’re getting young guys getting exposed, and not just to playing time.”

“Matthew Johnson for example has played on Marcus Bontempelli twice this year.”

“As frustrating as it’s been, there’s some real investment that’s going to be franked in time.”
