For the first time ever, eyelid surgery has become the world’s most common surgical procedure, with 2.1 million individuals undergoing the operation.

Professor Anand Deva from Macquarie University clarified to 6PR Breakfast hosts Millsy and Karl that the surgery combines both functional and cosmetic aspects.

“In some cases, particularly if there’s a proven visual obstruction, then there’s also a medical component, so those who have got private health cover or certainly access to Medicare can get some rebate back,” he said.
