Epilepsy diagnosis isn’t the end for Cam McCarthy’s career

Article image for Epilepsy diagnosis isn’t the end for Cam McCarthy’s career

Fremantle’s Cam McCarthy has been diagnosed with Epilepsy after the 25-year-old collapsed during a training session last week.

McCarthy has played 70 AFL games between GWS and Fremantle but the CEO of Epilepsy Action Australia says the diagnosis doesn’t mean the end of his career.

“Around 70 per cent of people with epilepsy get good seizure control,” Carol Ireland told 6PR Breakfast.

“They go on to play their sport, work, do all the normal things.”

Steve and Baz were educated about the brain condition that causes seizures.
