Earth’s ozone layer slowly healing, full recovery expected by 2066

The UN has announced that Earth’s protective ozone layer is slowly but noticeably healing at a pace that would fully mend the hole over Antarctica in about 43 years.
Dr Brad Tucker, Astrophysicist at Australian National University told 6PR Breakfast that healing of the ozone layer should in turn improve the UV index.
“It doesn’t block all ultraviolet light – we will always get some of the shorter ones but it does help limit that,” Dr Tucker said.
“With data you can see in October this hole starts to form over Antarctica and go to the mid-southern latitude i.e. Australia so will see this improve overtime.”
